Florida East Coast Railway Police spokesman Bob Ledoux reported to Historic City News this evening that they are investigating the death of a man, struck by a freight train as he laid on the railroad tracks near Perpall Street in the City of St Augustine.
St Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, south of SR-16, and determined that the victim died from injuries sustained in the collision around 5:00 p.m. Friday September 27th.
The victim’s identity has not been verified according to St Augustine Police spokesman Mark Samson.
Sheriff’s deputies turned the scene over to FEC police to investigate according to Florida East Coast Railway.
At this time there is no other information available.
