Wendler lawsuit topic of closed-door city meeting

A 4:00 p.m. closed-door meeting of the St Augustine City Commission has been called by City Attorney Ronald W. Brown in order to obtain advice regarding the pending litigation captioned Wendler v. City of St Augustine.

The on-going lawsuit was brought against the city when the property owner, Donna Wendler, was denied a permit to demolish the deteriorating buildings on lots where she hopes to build an upscale boutique hotel.

Wendler owns abutting lots that face south on King Street and north on Oneida Street — creating a large parcel of land that currently includes one-time residences that have been converted over the years to commercial use and use as apartments.

During the “shade meeting”, participants shall be limited to members of the City Commission, the City Manager, the City Attorney, the Assistant City Attorney, and a certified court reporter.

There is a public meeting of the City Commission that follows Monday evening at 5:00 p.m.
