Historic City News was informed by Public Information Officer Matthew Sara, that St Johns County Fire Rescue put a new rescue unit into service last week at Fire Station 14, located at 1255 West King Street in St Augustine.
A 2005 unit with over 210,000 miles of service was retired and replaced by the new Rescue 14 — a 2013 International, powered by a 300hp Maxxforce turbo diesel.
“This new rescue vehicle sits lower to the ground and is lighter than older units,” Sara told Historic City News. “It offers excellent handling and increased fuel economy.”
Additional features of the new vehicle include efficient LED lighting, inside and out, a power stretcher, and a larger work area in the rear.
“The new Rescue 14 will proudly serve the residents of West Augustine, and the rest of St Johns County,” Sara said.
