10-question survey, $75,000 – Your opinion, priceless

The St Augustine Visioning Steering Committee will convene on July 21st to tabulate public opinion being collected on survey forms that Historic City News has learned have already distributed in the community and are now available online at www.VisionStAug.com

The members of the committee are using a simple 10-question survey to measure the pulse of the community by asking interviewees how they feel about the city and how would they like to feel, what words would they use to describe St. Augustine, and to list three things they like about St. Augustine, three things they dislike, and three things that are missing from the city that they would like to see. Also, interviewees will be asked to specify items they would like to see considered in the visioning initiative.

“Over the next few days, the members of the committee can only reach so many people,” City Director of Public Affairs, Paul Williamson, told local reporters. “The city is asking the community to go online to complete the survey on their own and at their own convenience.”

“It is hoped that, even though the time frame is short, the community will embrace this simple opportunity to be a part of Visioning 2014 and Beyond by participating in this survey.”

The survey may be completed online; may be downloaded and filled out and returned via e-mail; or printed, completed and brought or mailed to City Hall. All options are available on the web site. The deadline for the survey is Noon on Thursday, July 17.

If you plan to attend the public meeting, it will be held on Monday, July 21 at 3:00 p.m. in the Alcazar Room on the ground floor of City Hall; located at 75 King Street in St Augustine.

The community’s priorities, expressed in the surveys, will be used as the basis of the visioning work in coming weeks, Williamson said.
