The Homicide Investigation Unit of the Office of the State Attorney for the Seventh Judicial Circuit, the Sheriff’s Major Crime Unit and the District 23 Medical Examiner have informed local Historic City News reporters that they are conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 39-year-old St Johns County woman.
The victim, identified as Rachel E. Lutinski, was pronounced dead inside her home located at 312 Shores Boulevard. Her fiancé, identified as 56-year-old Ray Neal Davis is in custody at the St Johns County Detention Facility of the Neil J Perry Criminal Justice Complex.
Thursday night at 10:38 p.m., Davis went to a neighbor and asked them to call 911 because his fiancé was experiencing a medical emergency. Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the home.
When deputies arrived, Davis became confrontational and had to be physically restrained.
Paramedic and EMT staff were unable to revive the victim, who was pronounced dead.
Friday morning, Dr. Predrag Bulic performed an autopsy of Lutinski’s body and determined that massive blood loss from internal injuries was the cause of her death. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Based on the autopsy results an arrest warrant was obtained and served on Davis; who remains in custody without bond.
The Florida Department of Children & Families responded and removed three small children from the residence.
