Edward R. Wuellner, Executive Director of the Northeast Florida Regional Airport at St Augustine has announced a press conference to Historic City News for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. to announce what have been called “New Offerings” to the St Augustine and St Johns County community.
In news out of Miami, Historic City News has learned that a professional group of airline managers acquired the intellectual property of Eastern Air Lines to develop a new business plan and financing plan to re-launch the long-time Florida based airline.
“Eastern has already moved into its headquarters office at Building 5A at Miami International Airport; which was the former Eastern Operations Center,” said Edward J. Wegel, President and Chief Executive Officer of the new Eastern Air Lines. “The four story building at the corner of LeJeune and 36th Street, once housed all of Eastern’s system control and maintenance control centers, as well as other operating units.”
Wegel has over 28 years of experience in the airline/aerospace industry and in investment banking and restructuring. From 1985 to 1987, after five years of active military service as an Army officer in the US and Europe, he served as Director of Finance for the legacy Eastern Air Line in New York and was a Director of Operations for Pan American World Airways. He graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point in 1980 and received his MBA in Finance from the University of Northern Colorado in 1982.
The new Eastern Air Lines says they expect to commence filing with the DOT and subsequently start their Part 121 FAA certification in the next month or two.
