Coming up: Clean eyes look at evidence in Michelle O’Connell death
The tragedy of September 2, 2010, ending in the death of Michelle O’Connell, one month short of her 25th birthday, tugs at the heartstrings of friends and family members who knew her and cannot believe the law enforcement and criminal justice community’s determination that she took her own life.
Four years after the incident, a licensed Florida private investigator, Clu Wright, comes forward with evidence he uncovered during his independent review of the case, begun in February of this year.
Working from the full report from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation, which includes 8 DVD’s of, interviews, testing, DNA samples, blood splatter evidence, crime scene photos, downloads from computers and phones from various persons, GSR testing, search warrants, court orders, and polygraph examinations, on June 10, 2014, under oath, Wright gave a sworn statement to two FDLE Inspectors concerning his involvement, analysis, review and investigation of the Death of Michelle O’Connell.
Separate letters were written to Governor Rick Scott, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Director of FDLE Gerald Bailey and FBI Jacksonville Agent-in-Charge, Michelle S. Klimt. Wright forwarded the findings to William Cervone, State Attorney for the 8th Judicial Circuit, Bradley King, State Attorney for the 5th Judicial Circuit, R. J. Larizza, State Attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit, 23rd District Chief Medical Examiner Predrag Bulic, MD., and St Johns County Sheriff, David B. Shoar.
Since the June reports were distributed, Wright tells Historic City News that he has had no communication from the law enforcement and criminal justice community and he is convinced that the facts and evidence he has uncovered deserve to be heard by an independent state or local grand jury.
Later this week, we will publish our report from that exclusive interview at the Historic City Newsroom in St Augustine on Monday. Whether you believe the law enforcement proffered suicide ruling or you believe a homicide occurred in the St Johns County Sheriff’s deputy’s home as she was attempting to move out, you will want to read this compelling report.
