Commissioner McClure guest speaker at Tea Party

Following the general business meeting of the St Augustine Tea Party, beginning at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow evening, February 11th, Historic City News readers are invited to listen when the guest speaker will be St Johns County Commissioner Bill McClure.

McClure replaced County Commissioner Mark Miner; who abandoned the remainder of his first four-year term for personal reasons. McClure won the Primary Election in August 2012, and was appointed by the governor to fill the remainder of Miner’s term; assuming the reins on November 20, 2012. McClure began his first full term in office on January 1, 2013. During his first term in office, McClure served as vice-chairman of the Board. McClure was elected to St Johns County Commission District 3 — even though all commissioners vote on all issues, countywide.

“You are patriotically invited to attend our General meeting at the Village Inn located at 900 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard in St Augustine,” said Lance Thate, the chairman of the local organization. “Commissioner McClure will be updating us on projects, events, and timely information about St Johns County programs, services, and initiatives.”

McClure is currently President and CEO of Medi Companies in St Augustine; a technology company engaged in the business-side of healthcare, insurance, and specialty software development. McClure moved to St. Augustine in 2004 from Gainesville, Florida. He attended the University of Florida and the University of South Florida. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he studied in the Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program as a graduate student.

McClure began his political training as a Senate Page in the Florida Senate, and then continued as a Political Aide to Florida Senator George Kirkpatrick, from Gainesville. He was active in the campaigns of former Florida Governor Bob Graham, Florida’s US Congressman Cliff Stearns, and President George W. Bush.
