The Flagler College Office of Alumni Relations notified Historic City News in St. Augustine that local resident, Letti Bozard, was recently honored with the Community Service Award at the Alumni Awards luncheon, held in the Dining Room of Ponce de Leon Hall.
Bozard, a 1997 graduate of the college. She is the third generation of her family to work at Bozard Ford Company. She serves as Vice President of Community Involvement and Customer Strategy. Her days are spent overseeing all aspects of the employee, customer, and partner experience when interacting with the company — both inside and outside the dealership.
Bozard earned her MBA from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and also serves on the boards of the St. Johns County Education Foundation and THE PLAYERS Championship Boys & Girls Club.
The Community Service Award is presented to alumni who have demonstrated outstanding contributions serving their community.
In addition, Captain Donald B. Simmons III, who graduated in 1987, was granted the Professional Achievement Award presented to alumni who have demonstrated significant accomplishments in their fields and have achieved recognition in their field.
Simmons has accumulated more than 2,500 flight hours in more than 25 different aircraft over his career as a Commanding Officer in the U.S. Navy. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Strike Flight Air Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal as well as many other unit and service commendations.
Flagler also presented the Young Alumni Achievement Award to 2006 graduate Lou M. Dubois. This award is presented to alumni who are 32 years of age and younger and have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments since graduating. The award recognizes contributions to society, to a profession or to Flagler College.
Dubois currently serves as the social media director for NBC News in New York. He landed the job after serving as the first social media editor NBC10 in Philadelphia. Prior to his work with NBC, Dubois has worked for outlets such as Inc. Magazine, Social Media Today and Sports Illustrated.
The Alumni Awards were initiated in 1999 to honor those who have made significant contributions to their fields, the college or their communities. Every spring, the awards are presented to deserving alumni during Alumni Weekend.
