Davis Shores warned about September water conditions

The City of St Augustine is warning Davis Shores residents, both north and south of Anastasia Boulevard, to be expecting reduced water pressure and possibly discolored water during the month of September.

Unidirectional flushing will be conducted in Davis Shores beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, and continuing through Tuesday, September 30th, weather permitting.

Public Works is advising those residents in affected areas of the city to check water quality prior to running laundry Sunday through Thursday, between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. While they say the water is “safe”, residents may experience a “discoloration” of their water.

“It is recommended that customers run faucets for five to ten minutes, which should result in the water running clear,” according to Paul Williamson, director of public affairs. “The program is a regular activity and is part of the city’s ongoing water quality system maintenance.”

The purpose of unidirectional flushing is to properly scour deposits and debris from the water mains and remove them from the distribution system.
