In the battle of the haves and the have-nots, the have-nots always outnumber the haves. Despite that indisputable fact, the haves always seem to get their way. Why is that?
Now, and during the next two-week early voting period, the haves and the have-nots will meet on the level, with an equal voice thanks to a secret ballot, to determine how we will be governed for the next two years. That is, of course, if they turn out and vote.
If you believe that we can do better, even if we are the outsiders and the have-nots, you have a voice for change that can only be silenced by your own inaction. I ask you to cast your ballot for a local government for the people — ALL of the people, not just the elitist political insiders who have shown us that they are more concerned about feathering their own nest than being a representative of the taxpaying citizens.
Change for transparency and accountability. Change for truth and fidelity. Change for the better.
Our mayor has enrolled the service of David Rice, Tom Willis, and Dudley Weaver, to act as Trojan horses to bring false accusations about his opponent, Nancy Shaver, into your home. A desperate and deceitful move that betrays his true character and compromises the sacred relationships between members of the faith-based community and our government. I will not reward a false prophet with my vote.
Exercise your right to be equal with the politicians who think they are royalty. Cast your vote to replace a man who has not been a good steward of the public trust. Please consider voting for Nancy Shaver for mayor of St Augustine.
