St Johns County residents with valid identification are always admitted free of charge to the Oldest House, the Lightner Museum, the Fountain of Youth (special events excluded), the Ximenez-Fatio House, the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse, City Walks History Mystery Murder Evening Tour and the Hotel Ponce de Leon Legacy Tours at Flagler College. The daily tours and wine tastings at the San Sebastian Winery are free to everyone. Also, admission is free to everyone at the Fort Matanzas National Monument, St Photios Chapel, the Pena-Peck House, the Father Miguel O’Reilly Museum and the Mission Nombre de Dios Museum. Many other local attractions offer discounted admissions to St Johns County residents with valid identification.

First Wednesdays Lightner Museum Tours – Lightner Museum’s curator provides an exclusive encounter with some of the museum’s eclectic relics. This themed interactive tour is designed to give participants an opportunity to talk with the curator and to see acquisitions in operation rather than just as static displays. Discover First America Program – Journey: Vignettes of St. Augustine’s African-American History. Chapters of St. Augustine’s lengthy African-American history come alive throughout this program that features re-enactments of the lives of the first African-Americans. Also, the program includes a re-enactment of the famous Civil Rights Period sit-in at the Woolworth’s lunch counter. Evenings at Whitney – Our Mysterious Sense of Smell – At 7 p.m., The Whitney Lab Lohman Auditorium at Marineland hosts Dr. Barry W. Ache, professor of neuroscience and biology and director of the University of Florida Center for Smell and Taste. Florida Orienteering Festival – From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., the Florida Agricultural Museum presents a fascinating course on how to navigate through the Florida wilderness. Open to all ages and levels of experience. This trail-hiking program is a light competition with different skill-level trails. Instructors will be on site to explain how the game works. There are 3 orienteering courses from one to three-miles in length and participants must finish within two hours of their start time (3 p.m. is the deadline for completion). St. Augustine Chocolate Tour – A guided journey to the finest chocolatiers in St. Augustine every Saturday through February. Learn the history of chocolate while sampling truffles, pastries and gooey delights. The 2-hour tour departs at 1:30 p.m. from the Old Town Trolley Welcome Center. Changing of the Guard Ceremony – At 6:30 p.m., St. Augustine’s Spanish Garrison conducts a 1740 Changing of the Guard Ceremony in the city’s Plaza de la Constitucion. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., with two groups of soldiers marching from the Spanish Bakery — one heads north on St. George Street to the City Gate and the other group comes south on the street to the Governor’s House where they will demonstrate Spanish military arts and explain the purpose of the Changing of the Guard. At 6:15 p.m., after greeting the public at the City Gate, the second group of soldiers marches down St. George Street to join their comrades at the Governor’s House where the Changing of the Guard, complete with a volley of musketry, will be performed. Discover the Birds of Anastasia – Led by an Anastasia State Park volunteer, this fun and informative walk is open to participants of all birding levels. From 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., observe a diverse variety of shore birds, marsh birds and hammock birds by walking the beach, boardwalks, nature trails and other areas.
