EPIC Behavioral Healthcare would like to announce to Historic City News readers that the effort to bring a Detoxification Center to St. Johns County will come to fruition on January 22nd, when a Grand Opening Ceremony will take place at the EPIC Recovery Center, St. Johns County’s new (and only) detox center.
The Grand Opening will take place on Wednesday, January 22 from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Readers are invited to attend and to tour the facility. The EPIC Recovery Center will begin receiving clients on January 23rd. The Center is located at 3574 US-1 South.
“It’s due to great community and legislative support that we have been able to bring a detox center to our community,” says Patti Greenough, EPIC CEO, “Until now, St. Johns County was the largest county in Florida without a detox center.”
In partnership with the Sheriff’s Office, EPIC Behavioral Healthcare took the lead in bringing a detox center to St. Johns County. After receiving funding from the Florida Legislature to operate a detox center in St. Johns County, the EPIC Board of Directors launched a capital campaign to raise $1.65 Million to purchase and renovate an existing building. According to Greenough, the campaign has reached 69% of the goal and the Board is continuing efforts to raise the remaining amount.
The EPIC Recovery Center will be a 24 hour/7 days a week medical facility with 16 beds (12 detoxification beds and 4 residential treatment beds) and will be led by a team of physicians, nurses, and trained substance abuse professionals.
A drug and alcohol detox can be the first step in a person’s journey of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. According to Greenough, “the mental clarity, emotional stability, and improved physical condition provided by a drug and alcohol detox will allow for more active participation in the daily requirements of a client’s rehabilitation program”.
