Historic City News was informed that Robert Laryn Skate Park is scheduled to reopen to the public at 10:00 a.m. this morning, Saturday, February 8, weather permitting. A new operator will manage a pro shop staffed with knowledgeable skaters and offers skateboard lessons, skateboards and gear, equipment rental, snacks and drinks.
The county-owned facility, part of Treaty Park, is located at 1595 Wildwood Drive in St Augustine. It has been closed for repairs and maintenance that included railing safety improvements, cement restoration, fence repairs, sod installation, and deep cleaning.
Standard operating hours for the 47-acre skate park will be 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.
Features of the skate park include 28,000-square-feet of concrete for skaters of all abilities, 1/2 pipes, rails, a 9.5-foot kidney-shaped pool with a 6-foot shallow end, and a little dudes park for beginning skaters and those under the age of 12.
Should inclement weather delay the grand reopening this morning, the park will open the next available day.
