A special opportunity is being offered to Historic City News readers who are St Johns County residents; one that comes around once every 125-years. Beginning on April 1st and continuing until December 31, 2014, take a docent-led tour of Flagler College, highlighting the architectural heritage of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, while the admission charge has been waived.
Built by millionaire developer Henry Morrison Flagler in 1888, the hotel is considered one of the finest examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture in North America and houses the largest collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows in use today.
If you would like to attend, tours originate in the Rotunda, located at 74 King Street in St Augustine, and begin at the top of each hour; between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (May 5 – August 10 tours run 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
There is no admission charge for St Johns County residents, with identification. Regular admission is $10.00 adults, $1.00 children. Call 904-823-3378 to confirm availability or to arrange any special accommodations.
