Letter: Morris and Sanchez raised your taxes!
Harlan Mason
St. Augustine, Florida
Dear Editor,
St. Johns County politicians have mastered the art of raising taxes in non-election year budget cycles hoping voters will forget the pain in their wallets by the time the next election rolls around.
In 2010, Commissioner Ron Sanchez voted to raise county property tax millage rates by a staggering 10%.
In 2012, Commissioner Jay Morris and Commissioner Ron Sanchez voted to raise county property tax millage rates by an additional 9%.
That’s a 19% property tax millage rate increase in the last four years imposed on St. Johns County citizens in a very tough economic environment. Its election time and I urge voters to remember that Commissioners Morris and Sanchez raised your taxes.
