St. Johns County Tax Collector Dennis W. Hollingsworth, CFC., invites all Historic City News readers to consider a gift of a lifetime Florida outdoor sports license for your children or grandchildren who are Florida residents between the ages 5 through 21.
Between November 24 and December 31, 2014, the Lifetime Sportsman License – which usually costs up to $1000 – now can be purchased for just $500. The lifetime license covers saltwater and freshwater recreational fishing, hunting and most associated permits.
“Florida has an abundance of opportunities for hunting and fishing, especially here in North Florida,” Hollingsworth said. “This special offer will allow our youth to enjoy these activities for decades to come, and at a significantly reduced cost.”
Hollingsworth pointed out that this license will not expire if the holder moves out of state – throughout their lifetime, whenever they are in Florida, Lifetime Sportsmen license holders will always be able to enjoy hunting and fishing at no additional cost.
The Lifetime Sportsman License can be obtained at any location of the St. Johns County Tax Collector. Interested parties must bring their social security card and Florida driver license or identification card. If you do not have a valid Florida driver license or ID, bring your birth certificate and social security card.
If you wish to make a gift of it, please bring in the child’s birth certificate, a copy of the driver license for any parent listed on the birth certificate, as well as the child’s social security number. A temporary license can be issued on the spot and a hard card will be mailed within 30 days.
Possession of the Lifetime Sportsman License does not exempt the holder from the required hunter’s safety course. The license can be held prior to taking this course, but it will be required prior to participating in any Florida hunt unless accompanied by a licensed adult 21 years of age or older.
The St. Johns County Tax Collector offers these licenses at all locations during regular business hours. During the holiday season, the main office only at 4030 Lewis Speedway will also be open Saturday November 29 and December 20, from 8:30 a.m. till 12 noon for your convenience.
