Lincolnville talk: an artist’s perspective

Award-wining artist Rosamond Parrish will give a brown-bag lunch presentation about Lincolnville on Wednesday, May 14, from noon to 1:00 p.m. and the St. Augustine Art Association, has invited Historic City News readers to attend.

The talk features vivid images and anecdotes from her illustrated book published in 2012, “Lincolnville: A Sketchbook Journal of St Augustine’s Historic Neighborhood”.

“The people and iconic places of this neighborhood hold a very special place in my heart,” said Parrish who resides in Lincolnville; the backdrop for the Civil Rights movement, 50 years ago. “I hope my perspective on this historic area will offer insight with a touch of humor.”

Parrish’s book has been widely acclaimed in the local community. The original book illustrations were first displayed at the St. Augustine Art Association, where Parrish has been a long-time active member. She is also the founder of the Jacksonville Watercolor Society. In 2011 she won the prestigious Carl Steinsieck Award for Figure Drawing.
