Media Relations Officer, Kevin Kelshaw, alerted Historic City News that an 11-year-old Rawlings Elementary School student has reported that a man, driving a silver SUV, performed a lewd act in front of her while she was in his vehicle on the way to school Wednesday morning.
According to Kathleen Furness, Principal of the Ponte Vedra Palm Valley School, the girl told her friends that she missed the school bus Wednesday morning, and began to walk to school. The girl said that she flagged down a passing car on Ponte Vedra Lakes Boulevard and accepted a ride the remainder of the way.
If you know the whereabouts of the man who was involved in this incident, described as a white male, approximately 30-40 years old, with medium length brown hair, wearing a dark colored shirt and green pants, please contact Special Victims Detective, Shannon Andrews, at the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office by calling (904) 209-3998. The driver is believed to work in the medical field and may frequent a gym in the Ponte Vedra or Jacksonville Beach area.
Although the girl was not harmed, and she was dropped on campus in time for class, Kelshaw said that the allegations are being taken seriously. Investigators want to interview the man who gave the girl the ride so that they can determine if, indeed, a crime has occurred.
