They may be miniature, but the works of art unveiled during First Friday Art Walk, May 2, are nothing shy of magnificent, according to Jacksonville artist Allison Watson who judged the winners.
“The overall quality of this show is very good,” said Watson, who indicated art sales would be robust. “Small works give the artist the opportunity to be more productive and to enjoy the success that comes with persistence and experimentation,” she added.
The show’s top prize, the Jean Wagner Troemel Best in Show Award, was presented to Kathryn Trillas for “Horsebarn Hill, CT” a landscape monotype.
Roger Bansemer won the first place award for “Protected Bayou” a maritime acrylic painting.
John Prisoc received second place for “Gold Finch”
Judy Culpepper was given the third place award for “Arawak Pottery” a still life oil on canvas.
Doni Dowie’s “Fluttering Heart” original jewelry piece won fourth place.
Wayne Chunat, Ryan Flannery, Francesca Garsh and Maura Hendry were recognized with honorable mention awards.
Installed by volunteers under the direction of Jill Cerulli and Darlene Scheyer, the exhibition may be viewed in the Marguerita Phillips Permanent Collection Gallery; open noon to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
