Heather Neville, Founder and President of the local non-profit Velo Fest Community Initiative, spoke with Historic City News editor Michael Gold yesterday after her presentation to the St Johns County Board of Commissioners.
Neville updated the commission on the success of their recent signature event, Velo Fest — held May 9, 10, 11, 2014; where an estimated 2,000 spectators were in attendance.
With the funds raised, Neville says that she will be doing two education campaigns this summer before the July 4th weekend, as well as prepping for our new event, “#LetsGetPedestrian Corporate 5k” September 25th.
“Total Registrations were 722; where 138 were from St Johns County and 554 from outside of the county,” Neville told local reporters. “Of those, 35 were from outside of the State of Florida, the furthest being Spokane, Washington followed by Terra Haute, Indiana.”
