Historic City News readers are invited to join the authentic, historical interpretation at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument for a special evening tour on Saturday, September 20th when you will have the opportunity to take a special look at St. Augustine through the lens of the Second Spanish Period (1784-1821).
At the close of the American Revolution, the defeated British Army played a tune that described the time; “The World Turned Upside Down.” Nowhere was this truer than in the Colony of East Florida.
Join the staff and volunteers of the Castillo de San Marcos in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and experience some of the Oldest City’s great stories and legends; British Loyalists, Spanish Soldiers, love, loss and more.
Castillo de San Marcos National Monument preserves the oldest fortification in the continental United States; a unique specimen of Spanish military architecture and engineering, related cultural resources, and their architectural, political, and social history.
