Police awarded grant for lifesaving equipment

Posted on 12/18/201412/19/2014 By Historic City News

300-SAPD-FIREHOUSE-AED-GRANThe St. Augustine Police Department informed local Historic City News reporters that the agency was awarded a grant through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation that was used to procure sixteen Automated External Defibrillators.

The AEDs are valued at just under $32,000.

These units are distributed by the same manufacturer that the St. Augustine Fire Department uses with their advanced cardiac units. This will allow for paramedics to immediately take over and transport a patient to the hospital.

The AEDs will be placed in the police cars to help officers who arrive on a scene where a person has had a heart attack and needs immediate aid.
