Saturday: The black experience through the years

Historic City News readers are invited to enjoy an authentic reenactment this weekend on the grounds of Fort Mose Historic State Park in St. Augustine; presented by Florida Living History, Inc., Fort Mose Historic State Park, and the Fort Mose Historical Society.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the 49th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Troupe members with Florida Living History will present a special commemorative program Saturday, April 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. to honor the men, women, and children who contributed to the struggle for freedom through a timeline of their experiences in Florida covering nearly three and half centuries.

Although the program is held on the grounds of the park, and admission to this heritage event is free, the Museum admission fee of $2.00 per adult applies if you decide to take the self-guided tour.

Florida Living History, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to informing our state’s citizens and visitors about Florida’s colonial and territorial past, using living-history programs, demonstrations, and recreated portrayals of significant historical events.
