As of yesterday, Historic City News was informed that St. Johns County Fire Rescue will decrease Lifeguard staffing levels on all county beaches.
The Labor Day Holiday traditionally marks the end of the summer beach season, and it will conclude the seasonal tower staffing provided annually.
“Although lifeguard towers will no longer be staffed, mobile truck patrols supplemented by career Fire Rescue staff will continue through the various beach zones until mid-September, 2014,” public information officer, Lt. Jeremy Robshaw told local news reporters.
Historic City News readers are reminded to utilize the 911 system for any emergency occurring on SJC beaches. These emergencies will continue to receive a Fire Rescue response throughout the year, according to Robshaw.
