Two St Johns County teenagers left the scene of an early morning crash near International Golf Parkway at World Commerce Parkway, according to a report received by Historic City News. The vehicle sustained about $9,000 in damage; Trooper Dennis Shorter reported only minor injuries to the passenger.
The driver of the 2004 Acura TL, 17-year-old Jess William Bratton of St Johns, was charged with careless driving after he failed to negotiate a right curve; causing him to lose control of his vehicle.
Bratton was traveling north on World Commerce Parkway, approaching International Golf Parkway, when investigators say he struck a raised curb, ran into the woods line, and struck several trees.
Bratton and his passenger, 17-year-old Caroline I Langenbahn of St Johns, left the scene before reporting the crash to the Florida Highway Patrol as required by law. Langerbahn was taken to Memorial Emergency Care Center in Julington Creek by her parents, where she was treated for “very minor injuries”.
