Flagler College President William T. Abare, Jr., has announced to Historic City News that Deborah Thompson has been selected to serve as Flagler College’s Vice President for Enrollment Management. Thompson has served the College on an interim basis in that position since March 3, 2014.
Prior to her appointment at Flagler, Thompson served as vice president for enrollment management and communications at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.
“Ms. Thompson has done an outstanding job for the College during the last 12 weeks,” Abare said. “I am delighted that she has accepted our offer of a permanent position in the Office of Admissions.”
Thompson also served as vice president of enrollment management at Stetson University in DeLand from 2001-2011, and was a senior administrator at her alma mater Emory & Henry College from 1989-2001.
As vice president for enrollment management, Thompson leads the Admissions and Financial Aid offices, and will serve as a senior officer of the College.
“We are very fortunate to have someone as talented and experienced as Deborah Thompson leading our student recruitment program,” Abare said. “In addition to being highly professional, she brings a great deal of energy and passion to her job.”

A native Virginian, she is a cum laude graduate of Emory and Henry College in Emory, Va., and earned her master’s degree with highest honors in counseling and human development from Radford University in Radford, Va.
