Tiberios honored at Art Association’s 90th anniversary

Posted on 02/19/201402/21/2014 By Historic City News

BOARD MEMBER SNODGRASS FAITH TIBERIO, PRESIDENT DIANE BRADLEYTwo cultural giants of St. Augustine were honored at the St. Augustine Art Association’s 90th Anniversary gala attended by Historic City News on February 7th.

Faith and the late Joseph Tiberio, who built the two wings at the Art Center in 1998, were recognized for their philanthropy with the dedication of the Faith and Joseph Tiberio Wing.

“Ty’s devotion to the arts literally took flight with the building of the Art Association wings,” said Faith of her husband, who passed away in October. The expansion provided 1,000 square feet of additional exhibition space, which facilitated the growth of the non-profit art organization.

The Tiberios also sponsored the research and publication of “Lost Colony: the Artists of St. Augustine 1930s-1950s” by Robert Torchia, the definitive book on the founding of the St. Augustine Art Association and its art colony.

“Ty and his amazing wife have supported many cultural groups through their generous giving and visionary leadership,” said Gary Snodgrass, honorary gala host and Art Association Board Member and benefactor. “Everyone who walks through the doors is inspired by the beautiful galleries built by the Tiberios.”

Selected works from the historic STAAA Permanent Collection are currently on display through March 2, in both the Phillips and Tiberio wings. The Art Association, located at 22 Marine Street, is open Tuesday – Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is free.
