Vicky Oakes, St Johns County Supervisor of Elections, reviewed with local Historic City News reporters the election and voting process that will be underway beginning and 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday November 4, 2014. As you mark your ballot, please consider your choices carefully, and please “vote smart”.
There is a 24-hour drop box in front of the Elections Office located at 4455 Avenue A, in St. Augustine that may be used to return your absentee ballot and the red absentee ballot drop boxes are still available until they are picked up at 5:00 P.M. on Election Day. In order to be counted, an absentee ballot must be returned to the Elections Office by 7:00 P.M. on Election Day. If it is late, it will not be counted.
You are required to vote at the precinct of your legal residence (your home precinct) if you have waited for Election Day to cast your ballot. The polls are open 7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M. If an emergency situation occurs that makes a voter unable to vote at their home precinct on Election Day, a new law this year requires the voter to complete an affidavit stating the reason for the emergency prior to being allowed to vote.
If your address has changed, please call us before you go to vote so we can update your information and send you to the correct polling place. This can be a real time saver.
