Years of abuse led to capital sexual battery arrest

Community Affairs Sergeant, Catherine Payne, informed Historic City News that this morning, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Special Victim’s detectives arrested a man for three counts of capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.

The investigation began earlier this year, in May, after the Florida Department of Children and Families received an anonymous complaint about possible abuse.

During the investigation, detectives determined the victim in the case was sexually abused by 59-year-old Dennis Alan Ray over the course of several years.

Ray was arrested at his residence at 213 North Blvd in St Augustine, and booked into the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Detention Facility just before lunch today, where he continues to be held, without bond, on the five charges
