Despite hollow promises and inflated expectations, starting with fraudulent funding of First America Foundation after they materialized in July 2010; taxpayers now face the reality that the St. Augustine 450th Commemoration has come down to a five-day-long event scheduled for September 4-8.
As Historic City News readers continue to countdown the days until we can finally put a lid on this multi-million dollar money pit, the city has decided to spend a little more money to hold a series of three community town halls:
- Casa Monica Hotel Ballroom, Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:30 p.m.
- Visitor Information Center, Tuesday, July 7th at 6:00 p.m.
- Blackfly Restaurant, Tuesday, July 14th at 5:30 p.m.
No reservations, tickets, or invitation are required.
The still-fluid plans for the events, that never had the benefit of a working master plan, will be presented in a “one-on-one” question-and-answer session — even though the “answers” have been published at www.StAugustine-450.com for several weeks. The difference will be, at the town halls, you may direct your questions to those who are managing the event.
