Saint Leo University men’s lacrosse team, the Lions, will host NCAA runner-up Long Island University in St Augustine Friday night during a charity event in support of the Wounded Warriors Project, and Historic City News readers are invited to participate.
Brad Jorgensen, Lions head coach, told local reporters that Friday’s event will be an opportunity for the team to take the Wounded Warrior Project and give it a human face.
“If we’re going to be a part of this game, we want to do it the right way,” Jorgensen told Historic City News. “Everybody conceptually understands doing charity work, doing community service; but, it’s a whole different experience when you get to put a name, a face, a person, with what you’re doing.”
If you are able to attend, the game will be held Friday, February 27th at 7:30 p.m. on the field at Saint Augustine High School, located at 3205 Varella Avenue in St. Augustine.
Tickets are $5 on-site at the high school, with all proceeds from the ticket sales being donated to Wounded Warrior Project. Saint Leo University Veterans Student Services has purchased special camouflage coaching shirts to wear in honor of this cause.
