If you are a Historic City News reader and have your eye on a life-time presidential appointment, you need to meet your fellow subscriber, and St Johns County resident, Carol Saviak.
Florida’s United States Senators, Democrat Bill Nelson and Republican Marco Rubio, have informed local Historic City News reporters that Saviak has been reappointed to serve a third, two-year term on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for the Middle District of Florida.
“The federal judicial branch is a critical component of our American system of government,” Saviak told local reporters. “I am grateful to Senator Rubio and Senator Nelson for the opportunity to continue to serve as a member of this important statewide commission.”
Saviak, who is the Government Relations Manager for the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, will sit on the statewide panel charged with selecting nominees for presidential appointments to federal judgeships, U.S. attorneys and U.S. marshals.
The Middle District of Florida extends from Fort Myers to Tampa to Jacksonville. Members of the federal judiciary serve lifetime appointments.
Saviak was initially appointed to the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission in 2011. Her term will end in 2017.
Additional Northeast Florida residents appointed to service on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for 2015-2017 include Wayne Hogan of Terrell Hogan; William C. Gentry of the Law Offices of W.C. Gentry; P.A., Nathaniel Glover of Edwards Waters College; Stephen J. Pajcic, III, of the Law Firm of Pajcic & Pajcic; Harry Shortstein of Shorstein, Lasnetski & Gihon; Charles Trippe, Jr. of Moseley, Prichard, Parrish, Knight & Jones and Bruce Smathers.
