A 54-year-old St. Johns County man was arrested early Wednesday afternoon and charged with soliciting sex from a minor, traveling to meet a minor for sex, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate the commission of a felony, according to a report received by Historic City News.
This morning, Timothy James Hladky who resides at 284 Hidden Tree Drive, made his first appearance before a judge; bond was set at $120,000.
The investigation began earlier this week when the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office began communicating online with Hladky who was seeking a sexual encounter with a minor. According to the report, Hladky was eager to meet with the alleged minor; in reality, an adult cybercrimes detective.
A meeting between Hladky and the imaginary “minor girl” was planned for early Wednesday afternoon at an undisclosed location on US-1, South; but, when Hladky arrived, he was taken into custody, without incident, and brought in for questioning.
Detectives at the scene seized his vehicle to seek additional evidence. The trial date has not been announced at this time.
