The Saint Augustine Maritime Heritage Foundation’s secretary and media director, Linda Allen, reported to Historic City News that their Executive Board will hold a Christening and naming ceremony for the St Augustine Chalupa on Sunday, March 22nd, at 3:00 p.m.
The long anticipated event will be held on the grounds of the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, located at 11 Magnolia Avenue in St Augustine.
“Please join us for the traditional 16th Century Spanish Colonial Christening and Naming of the St Augustine Chalupa,” Allen told local news reporters. “This authentic heritage replica is the result of 4000-hours of volunteer boat building, and we want to thank the men and women that made this milestone possible.”
Admission to the Fountain of Youth is free of charge, for St Johns County Residents with photo identification, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
