Joseph C. Cearley, Special Projects Manager for the St. Johns County Growth Management Department, has forwarded to Historic City News for publication a copy of a draft ordinance that, if approved by the Board of County Commissioners, will amend the current land development code.
Among various other amendments currently in development, this ordinance involves new special uses for rural industry and outdoor events, secondary access requirements, fence height measurement clarification, tree removal penalty fines, and modifying the boundary for Race Track Road signage.
“This draft has been revised with consideration of everyone’s comments from the recent workshop and the initial draft that was sent out, as well as revisions made to the draft from comments received from August 10th,” Cearley told local reporters. “Please review this draft version and respond to us with your comments or concerns.”
Cearley did point out that within Section 11 and Section 13, Access, staff has provided two options for exempted projects. These two options will be a policy decision made by the Board of County Commissioners at a public hearing.
Furthermore, these options would clarify whether the developments with more than 200 residential dwelling units would be exempt from providing secondary emergency access if they have either
- an approved Master Plan/ Optional Preliminary Subdivision Plan, or
- approved Construction Plans.
