On Monday night, May 11th, the St. Augustine City Commission will have a long evening; beginning with a 3:00 p.m. shade meeting, followed by a 4:00 p.m. budget workshop, and at 5:00 p.m., a regular business meeting with a very heavy agenda.
However, it is graduation season throughout St. Johns County; and, the City of St Augustine will take time to make its contribution to the season of ceremonies for our graduating seniors, as it does each year.
Mayor Nancy Shaver and the commissioners will honor a graduating senior from each of St. Johns County’s high schools with this year’s annual presentation of the Citizenship Award.
This year’s honorees are:
- Carley Fischer, St. Joseph Academy
- Emily Bennett, St. Augustine High School
- Lauren Wisniewski, Allen D. Nease High School
- Sarah Cavacini, Pedro Menendez High School
- Heather Hunt, Florida School for the Blind
- Franklin Stewart, Florida School for the Deaf
- Amanda Schuster, Bartram Trail High School
- Taylor Mobley, St. Johns Technical High School
- Hunter Clary, Creekside High School
- Kelly Roy, Ponte Vedra High School
Each high school has the opportunity to name a recipient who will receive a city lapel pin, a plaque, and $100 to help defray costs of their continued education.
