Historic City News was informed that the Knights of Columbus, Switzerland Council 12664, brought fun, comfort, and joy to the residents of St. Francis House last Saturday night; residents who get very few opportunities to get in the holiday spirit.
The Knights arrived early to decorate the dining room and then served a delicious pineapple glazed ham dinner with all the holiday trimmings.
“The Knights of Columbus planned the entire evening for us,” Karen Lundquist told local Historic City News reporters. “They are frequent volunteers at St. Francis House, the only full-time homeless shelter between Jacksonville and Daytona.”
After the meal, Santa visited St. Francis House with gifts for everyone. The children received backpacks loaded with school supplies. Each child picked out a special present from Santa. Christmas stockings filled with goodies and gift cards were given to the five resident families.
Sweet Weddings on King Street in St. Augustine and Baha Faith provided delectable desserts for the after dinner party: fancy cupcakes and a multi-layered sheet cake. Handmade blankets were given to each family, thanks to The Happy Hookers and The Knotty Knitter.
