St Johns County Fire Rescue informed local Historic City News reporters that they responded to a residential structure fire in the 600 block of Bahia Court in St Augustine Shores at approximately 11:40 a.m. Monday.
Upon arrival crews found significant smoke and flames visible from the garage and roof area. Firefighters made entry into the structure and began to extinguish the fire while completing a search for occupants.
The structure was confirmed evacuated, but significant fire spread was found through the entire attic space of the residence.
Additional arriving crews continued firefighting efforts including exposure protection and were able to bring the fire under control at approximately 12:15 p.m. without incident.
One individual reported to be at the residence was transported to Flagler Hospital for evaluation due to smoke inhalation. No other injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by St Johns County Fire Rescue.
