When the St. Augustine Regional Council holds their next general monthly meeting, Tuesday April 21st, Historic City News was informed the special guest speaker will be St Augustine mayor, Nancy Shaver. The meeting and presentation will be held at Dos Gatos Restaurant located at 66 Hypolita Street, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The Mayor will specifically address her vision for the revised role of the City’s Visitor Information Center.
“Currently, the City’s marketing is focused on the First Coast, and is driven by bed taxes,” Mayor Shaver told reporters. “Our role as the oldest city should be to tell the authentic story of our history. We can attract the heritage tourist, who will spend more when they visit, and are more likely to relocate here in the future.”
Mayor Shaver was awarded her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wesley College. She attended the MBA program at Mary Washington University, and has over 25-years of business experience leading marketing organizations. She is a Principal Consultant with Experian Marketing Services where she is engaged with global firms to deliver data and analytically based strategy.
On a professional level, Mayor Shaver is a speaker at industry conferences, contributes regularly to various publications, and has been a board member of the DMAW Educational Foundation and TransAmerica Marketing.
She is active in community affairs. And, as mayor, Shaver will preside over the City’s 450th Commemoration of the founding of St Augustine this year.
