Local owner, Joe Tringali, and Executive Chef Angelo Bondi, are serving the best tasting, highest quality 100% USDA Prime beef burger available; like the King Street Classic, Riberia Street Special, Black and Bleu, or the Farmer Joe — a cheddar cheese burger topped with crispy bacon and a fried egg.
Sandwiches are served with fries of coleslaw, but for a liter, vegetarian lunch, try their green salads starting at just $3.50. They also offer four specialty salads up to $11.00, or add chicken (+$3) or salmon (+$5) to make your own custom creation.
Something other than burgers on your mind? How about a fresh catch of the day on a brioche bun, or marinated chicken sandwich, or Lincolnville pulled pork. They even have hot dogs, a Boar’s Head turkey and swiss cheese, and a ribeye steak sammich. Items are available from the kids menu (12-years-old or younger).
Tringali also owns the newly remodeled Carmelo’s Market Place, only a couple of blocks west from the burger house. Many of the faces today were familiar to our server, Carmen Conner. Her family sold the former Conner Shell station to Tringali to build his first restaurant.
Regulars from Carmelo’s will find the wood-fired pizza to be a delicious break from burgers. Sample from a list of a dozen different domestic and imported beers or, wine is available by the glass or bottle, as well as Coca Cola products, tea, coffee, and bottled water. Table service is available inside or on the extra-wide front porch. Take out service is available, just call ahead and your order will be ready to carry home. Gourmet hand-dipped ice cream cones and sundaes are available at the desert bar.
Specialty burgers include turkey burgers, bison burgers, veggie burgers, and a salmon burger.
Parking is available in front and one block south on Riberia Street in the parking lot on the right. A complimentary shuttle is available to take you from your car to the front door of One-Twenty-Three Burger House.
Gold considers himself a connoisseur of hamburgers; crediting at least 100-pounds of his girth to the all American sandwiches. “One-Twenty-Three Burger House gets my exclusive Gold Seal of Approval for the best gourmet burger in St Augustine,” Gold proclaimed. Although not as official, Mayor Shaver said she enjoyed her fast-melting ice cream in a waffle cone — but she chose not to take a break from licking to announce it.
