Although the City of Palm Coast was officially incorporated on December 31, 1999, there has never been a city hall building. The city that has grown to a population of about 78,740, has always rented office space in several buildings over the past sixteen years. The various departments of local government have been spread out at different locations.
“Total square footage for these first two phases is 41,309,” Landon told local reporters. “City Hall is located at 160 Lake Avenue in Palm Coast’s Town Center, our future downtown area; neighbors to Central Park, the City Centre office building, Epic Theater, and the newly completed Bulldog Drive roadway and landscaping improvements.”
Our neighbors to the south will find that the resulting $9.15 million facilities were worth the wait. 135 employees will work in the facility.
The new Palm Coast City Hall is a full-service facility for the public, with Customer Service for paying utility bills and managing utility service, permitting, zoning, code enforcement, business tax receipts and the Business Assistance Center, all located on the first floor.
There are many joint work spaces for collaboration between employees and teams as well as technology, including public Wi-Fi, and extensive use of tablets and cloud computing that allows flexibility for working throughout the facility and emphasizes the “paperless office” concept.
Many citizens will also benefit by the one-story, 7,978 square-foot Community Wing. Movable walls allow a configuration of up to three meeting rooms complete with every high-tech video, audio and oversized high resolution monitor you could want. In addition to council meetings, community organizations and citizen boards can schedule access to the meeting facilities, which includes a full service kitchen and public restrooms.
