Proposed West Augustine Overlay District Public Meetings
St. Johns County is hosting a series of public meetings on proposed amendments to Article III of the Land Development Code that would create a proposed West Augustine Overlay District. The first meeting is scheduled for 5:01 p.m. on May 19 in front of the Board of County Commissioners, the second meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 21 in front of the Planning and Zoning Agency, and the third and final meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 16 in front of the Board of County Commissioners. All three meetings will be held at the County Administration Building, 500 San Sebastian Way, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
The Land Development Code changes being considered would create a proposed West Augustine Overlay District, which is intended to promote economic development and redevelopment in West Augustine and allow a broad mix of land uses without the need for a Planned Unit Development rezoning. The plan supports the creation of a mixed use community in a neighborhood center that is generally compact and complementary to the surrounding neighborhoods. The Overlay District is also envisioned to promote pedestrian and bicycle uses and would help accomplish many of the goals of the West Augustine Community Redevelopment Agency and the vision established by the community.
