Historic City News has learned that Skinner Bros Realty Co. will be building a 54,000-square-foot Publix in the Moultrie Square Shopping Center in St. Augustine as part of a “large-scale enhancement project” of the center.
A 48,500-square-foot store is at the site now; that will be demolished (although the pharmacy will stay open throughout the project).
According to an announcement published in Jacksonville Business Journal, other parts of the project include a new entrance to the center on Wildwood Drive, an updated façade, increased lighting, and new striping in the parking lot.
The architect is Ervin, Lovett, Miller; the civil engineer is Almond Engineering. Skinner Bros. will be the project manager, with a general contractor selected by the end of August, the company said.
The project is slated to begin at the end of 2015 and be wrapped up in the third quarter of 2016.
