Young is a traditional Guardsman, and is currently employed by the Miami-Dade Police Department, Homeland Security Bureau, and is detached to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in Miramar.
“Command Sgt. Maj. Young is an outstanding leader who understands Soldiers and Airmen and has advised commanders at numerous levels,” said Maj. Gen. Calhoun. “He thrives on new challenges and responsibilities. As the Senior Enlisted Advisor the Adjutant General he will focus on the morale, welfare, and individual readiness of the Florida National Guard and strengthening our NCO Corps.”
Young has served in the military since 1985, and most recently served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He will replace Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Hosford, and will advise Adjutant General of Florida Maj. Gen. Michael Calhoun on issues affecting the enlisted men and women of the Florida National Guard.
The ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Patriot Field at St. Francis Barracks; Florida National Guard Headquarters, 82 Marine Street in St Augustine.
