Junior Lifeguard Coordinator, Josh Romaine, informed local Historic City News reporters that camp dates and registration details for the 2015 Junior Lifeguard program have been announced.
St Johns County Fire Rescue will hold camp registration in conjunction with program tryouts which are scheduled for dates in April and May at the Solomon Calhoun Pool; located at 1300 Duval Street in St Augustine.
“The purpose of the St Johns County Junior Lifeguard Program is to increase self-confidence and promote safe behavior in the aquatic environment,” Romaine told Historic City News. “During the program, each student will be challenged to have fun, become more confident in the water, and learn respect for themselves and each other.”
Students will be registered for the program on a first-come basis after successful completion of the tryout. Prospective campers must bring registration paperwork and payment to the tryout in order to reserve a spot in the summer sessions.
Throughout the course, safety is our primary consideration. Students will acquire a wide range of skills including first-aid, CPR, and rescue techniques.
