Posted on 08/14/2015 By Historic City News

The Florida Park Service informed local Historic City News reporters that they are in the process of updating the Unit Management Plans for Anastasia State Park and Fort Mose State Park in St Augustine and our readers are invited to share their opinions about the proposed plans.

If you plan to attend, the meeting will convene at the St Augustine Amphitheater Conference Room located at 1340-C A1A South in St Augustine on August 26, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

The draft plan is available online for Anastasia State Park

The following improvements are proposed for the updated Anastasia State Park management plan:

  • Develop a new campground loop with 30 sites;
  • Add an additional boardwalk and two beach access points to provide better beach access;
  • Build a new non-motorized boat rental concession facility to enhance boating opportunities at the Salt Day Use area;
  • Construct a large pavilion to provide more picnicking opportunities; and
  • Continue to add/improve interpretive exhibits/signage throughout the park.

Anastasia State Park had 539,936 visitors in Fiscal Year 2013-14.  The park’s campground enjoys an 83 percent year-round occupancy rate.

The draft plan is also available online for Fort Mose Historic State Park

  • Build an outdoor interpretive area including a bastion wall exhibit and archaeological exhibit;
  • Construct an outdoor classroom to host school field trips and other groups; and
