The recent resignation of Joe Cronk has led the City of St Augustine to advertise the remainder of a three-year term on the Historic Architectural Review Board, originally awarded to Jeremy Marquis.
There was controversy over the handling of a prior application for this seat by 35-year city-resident and homeowner, Melinda Rakoncay, who timely submitted her application to serve on the volunteer board. In a decision that would later be questioned, then City Clerk Alison Ratkovic determined that Rakoncay was “not qualified” and therefore did not share her application with the mayor and city commissioners who actually make all appointment decisions.
There is no word from Rakoncay if she intends to apply again.
The application deadline for this appointment is the close of business on Monday, November 2nd, with the appointment scheduled for the City Commission meeting on November 9th.
For information concerning qualifications and applications please contact the new City Clerk, Darlene Galambos, at 904.825.1007. Download the board appointment application, at this link, click here.
