At 2:00 p.m. yesterday, the St. Augustine Police Department responded to a shooting call from Tobacco and Beverage Express located at 70 Masters Drive.
Officers arrived to find the clerk, Manav Deshi, dead at the scene; the victim of a single gunshot to the head. Deshi reportedly has only been a resident of St Augustine for a few months.
In custody are 16-year-old Andre Jerome Robinson Jr., of Gainesville, and 15-year-old Sergio Morgan-Wideman of St. Augustine. The two juveniles fled the scene in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, previously stolen in Daytona Beach, and engaged in a high-speed chase with police until they were finally captured in Clay County.
Detectives from the St. Augustine Police Department along with FDLE are investigating what appears to have been a robbery-gone-bad.
