Much to the surprise, as well as some concern, of the pollsters, political newcomer Donald Trump continues to draw big numbers in a field of several well-seasoned Republican contenders.
Eight years control of the White House by Democrats has Republican leaders concerned that, although he’s doing well in the polls, if Trump appears on the ballot to face a strong Democrat opponent, would voters take him seriously enough to pull the lever?
Moreover, many are concerned that Trump remains a wildcard if the Party does not select him to lead the GOP ticket; the suspicion being that Trump might change his party affiliation and run under the auspices of one of the lesser known minor parties.
